This lecture will discuss the underlying principles for the imaging diagnosis of ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes with MRI, as well as briefly covering the clinical signs, pathophysiology, treatment, and prognosis.

Learning objective #1  - The audience should be able to describe the basic symptoms and pathophysiology of strokes.
Learning objective #2 - The audience should understand the very basic physics of MR acquisition, image weighting, and diffusion.
Learning objective #3 - The audience should be able to identify both types of stroke on a cross-sectional image, and differentiate between ischemia and hemorrhage.

Presented by Scott Johnson, RT (R) - Scott is a radiologic technologist with 6 years of experience and a strong interest in MRI physics and its application to veterinary medicine. His goal is to make MRI an interesting and accessible topic to veterinary technicians.  He recently earned a Masters of Science in Bioimaging from Boston University.
