There is no fee to attend this lecture. Preregistration is requested and seating is limited. This lecture has been approved by the MVTA for 1 CEU for veterinary technicians and assistants.

Lecture overview:

The purpose of this lecture is to give insight into plasma and blood transfusions. We will discuss the different instances that they are used and the purpose of each. My goal is to help you feel more comfortable and to help you better understand why one would be chosen over the other.

Speaker bio:

Dr. Kristine Demers grew up in North Reading, Massachusetts. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from The College of New Jersey, in Pennington NJ. After graduation she worked for one year as a veterinary technician, prior to attending veterinary school. She then completed her education at the University of Pennsylvania where she received her doctorate in veterinary medicine. Dr. Demers then served as a post-graduate intern in medicine and surgery at the Center for Animal Referral and Emergency Services (CARES) in Langhorne, Pennsylvania before returning back to her home state of Massachusetts.

Dr. Demers joined Bulger Veterinary Hospital in 2015 as both an Emergency Doctor and General Practitioner. Dr. Demers loves both emergency medicine and preventative care, and has a special interest in surgery. Outside of work she enjoys cooking, traveling, running, and spending time with her husband, their two cats, and their dog Holly.
