Join our Anesthesia experts for a day of focused learning about managing and monitoring anesthesia in small animal patients, appropriate for both veterinarians and veterinary technicians. Attendees will earn 6.0 hours of RACE-approved live CE for the day, plus 1-hr on-line.

Morning Session: What Does BEEP Mean to You? Discussions on Blood Pressure, ECG, End-tidal CO2, and Pulse Oximetry
In this 3-hour dry lab, attendees will rotate in small group format through four stations: ETCO2, Blood Pressure, SpO2 and ECG. Each station will take 45 minutes and will cover detailed information on these monitoring parameters, with troubleshooting algorithms and case examples. When do I treat an arrhythmia? How low can my patient's blood pressure go? Why monitor ETCO2? What does pulse oximetry really tell me? These are just a few of the questions that will be answered in this interactive lab.
Approximately 2 weeks prior to the lab, attendees will receive access to the RACE approved on-demand lecture “Anesthesia Monitoring Basics and General Anesthesia Depth Determination” by Andrea Looney, DVM, DACVAA, CCRP, DACVSMR on VetBloom. Please watch the presentation prior to attending this Anesthetic monitoring session.

Afternoon Session: Addressing Our Anesthetic Issues: Let's Be Honest
This 3-hour case-based interactive panel discussion will address the anesthetic issues we face in real life. No textbook situations here! What happens when my premed doesn't work? These anesthetic drugs made my patient crazy! My patient won't stay asleep! Or…my patient won't wake up! What does an Alfaxalone induction really look like? Is this dysphoria or pain? Anesthesiologists and experienced anesthetists are not exempt from facing these situations every day. It's how you learn to cope that predicts the outcome. Veterinary technicians and veterinarians attending this session will be presented with several videos and case discussions detailing these, and many more, real life anesthetic events.

Presented by: Dr. Andrea Looney, DACVAA, DACVSMR, CCRP; Jaime Maher, CVT, VTS (ECC & Anes); Jenna Murray, CVT and Laurie Rassbach, CVT
