| Dermatology Specialty Technician: Responsible for assisting the Staff Veterinarian of Dermatology and for ensuring consistent and effective delivery of out-patient and in-patient services to patients seen through the Dermatology Service. Responsibilities will include providing support in the examination room, client education, collection and staining of skin and ear samples, interpretation of cytologies and skin scrapes, performance of intradermal allergy testing, venipuncture, sedation, assistance with video otoscopy, maintenance of anesthesia, preparation of client discharge statements, client communication, and animal restraint and handling. Training in microscopy, allergy testing, and other dermatologic procedures can be provided. General knowledge of medical terminology, pharmacology, anesthesiology, radiology, nursing techniques, surgery, and animal handling is required. Proper restraint techniques necessary along with the proper use of restraining equipment to ensure the safety of the animals and staff.
